John Swinney, MSP for Perthshire North, has today (Monday) visited Tayside Upcycling & Craft Centre (TUCC).
The centre, which is based just off the A90 next to Inchmichael Garage, sells items such as paint, varnish and brushes for those looking to start an upcycling project. There are also experienced staff on hand to offer advice and support for any potential project that a customer is undertaking. In addition, the shop accepts donations of used furniture if they feel it is something that they will be able to upcycle. There is also the option for members of the public to commission an upcycling project on a piece of furniture they already own.
Additionally, the shop offers a space for local artisans to sell their upcycled product and make a living from their work.
Commenting, Mr Swinney said: “It was a pleasure to visit the Tayside Upcycling & Craft Centre, and to see first-hand the excellent work they are doing.
“This sort of enterprise is a prime example of the benefits of a circular economy, adding value to existing items that would otherwise be sent to landfill and ensuring that we are taking action to tackle the climate emergency.
“The fact that the centre has saved dozens of tonnes of furniture from going to landfill speaks to their success, and is a tribute to the hard-work of all involved. I was struck by the passion of Alfie and Sarah, and I look forward to continuing to follow TUCC’s success in the months and years ahead”
