Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, met today, Thursday 27th April, with representatives from the MS Society in the Scottish Parliament. The meeting was held to mark MS Awareness Week, which focuses on promoting mental wellbeing among people living with multiple sclerosis (MS).
Mr Swinney was joined by Morna Simpkins, Scotland Director of the MS Society, and Keith Park, Policy, Public Affairs and Campaign Manager. During the meeting, they discussed the importance of raising awareness of MS and supporting mental wellbeing for those affected by the condition.
Throughout MS Awareness Week, the MS Society is encouraging people with MS to share their experiences using the social media hashtag #MSMakesMe. They are also asking MSPs to wear MS Society badges and share images and gifs on social media to help raise awareness.
Commenting, Mr Swinney said: "I was pleased to meet with Morna Simpkins and Keith Park from the MS Society. MS Awareness Week is a crucial initiative to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis and promote mental wellbeing for those living with the condition.
"By wearing an MS Society badge and using the hashtag #MSMakesMe, we can help amplify the voices of people with MS and bring attention to the challenges they face. I encourage everyone to join this effort to support the MS community and work towards a future where we can better understand and treat this condition."
