Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, has today urged local residents to be vigilant, following confirmation that Perth and Kinross has been placed in level 2 of the Scottish Government’s COVID framework.

Perth and Kinross Council will be required to adhere to the new level from 06:00am on Monday 2nd November. The first review of local authority levels will then take place during the week beginning 9th November.

Commenting, Mr Swinney said:

“COVID is a significant threat to us all and members of the public have done so much to help to tackle the virus.

“Perth and Kinross has been placed at Level 2 in the Scottish Government framework but the data shows the virus poses a significant threat to our community. I would encourage everyone to follow the guidance that is available and to be particularly careful to ensure we all take steps to avoid transmission.

“The fact that our neighbours in Dundee have been placed in Level 3 demonstrates the need for vigilance and care, especially as we depend on acute hospital services in the City of Dundee.”
