Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, and Perth and North Perthshire MP, Mr Pete Wishart, have today congratulated Feldy-Roo on their fundraising success.

The organisation, which delivers meals to over 70s and vulnerable people across parts of Highland Perthshire, has now received a total of £88,300 in funding since it was set up in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commenting, Mr Swinney said:

“One of the few positives to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic is that it has shone a light upon the kindness that exists within our society.

“Feldy-Roo is a perfect example of this community spirit, and I am therefore delighted that the organisation’s hard work and positive impact is being recognised with such significant levels of funding.

“The entire team at Feldy-Roo deserve our heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the steps they are taking to help those most acutely affected by the current crisis. It is my hope that they continue to go from strength-to-strength, and be able to build upon the incredible contribution they have already made to households across Highland Perthshire.”

Mr Wishart added:

“I am absolutely amazed by the work that has been done in such a short period of time by the great group of volunteers at Feldy-roo. The sheer number of meals and papers they have managed to deliver has been staggering and they are really helping some of the most vulnerable and isolated people right now. I would also like to thank the public for their amazing generosity when it comes to helping with the fundraiser that they are running, it says a great deal about the community spirit of the area.”

Gavin Price, founder of Feldy-Roo, added:

“It has been brilliant to watch the community come together, and particularly to see different generations and groups rally around a common cause.

“One of the striking things about Feldy-Roo is the happiness that it brings both to its beneficiaries, but also to its volunteers. There’s a genuine warmth on display when we deliver meals, and our volunteers love bringing smiles to the faces of the people they are helping.

“The interactions we are able to have with those we are helping are a boost us all. It’s wonderful to see the positive impact we are having on their lives, and to have a chance to ensure that elderly and vulnerably people are receiving some form of social contact.”

To date, Feldy-Roo have delivered over 3300 meals, and are still in the process of applying for more funding. Their GoFundMe page is still open and can be found via https://www.gofundme.com/f/feldyroo
