Perthshire North MSP, John Swinney, and his Westminster colleague Pete Wishart, MP for Perth and North Perthshire will officially open their new Parliamentary office in Blairgowrie this Saturday [31st].
The move follows almost 20 years in their former Blairgowrie office on Perth Street and represents a substantial improvement to the office environment for constituents seeking assistance and parliamentary staff alike.
A plaque will be unveiled to commemorate the opening and this will be performed by long serving office volunteer Mrs Barbara Cook.
Commenting on the move John Swinney said:
"Our new office on Leslie Street presents us with a much more modern and welcoming space for staff and constituents alike and features the most up to date equipment and services.
"As a constituency MSP I represent hundreds of constituents every year and this work load continues to grow in volume. In this excellent new office I and my staff can continue to deliver the very best support to my constituents going forward.”
Pete Wishart added:
"With the severe cuts to welfare our communities have been enduring since 2010 I have seen constituent cases increase dramatically so it was essential that I secured a more efficient office with which to work on this surge in demand.
“I would like to thank our Blairgowrie office staff for creating this wonderful new facility and making sure the case work was kept up to date over the transition period. I also pay tribute to the two decades of volunteer support from Barbara Cook and many others in our office."
Notes for Editors: The new office is 17-19 Leslie Street, Blairgowrie, PH10 6AH. The unveiling will be at 1300 – photographers are invited to attend.
